Ceremony Music

The music you choose should complement the location of your ceremony and reflect your musical interests and personality. The same style of music does not have to be used through the entire ceremony either. Classical guitar or New Age music during the prelude will complement an outdoor mountain ceremony while using Stevie Wonder - Signed, Sealed, Delivered for your recessional tells your guests it's time to have fun!!

You will find some common examples of popular ceremony music below and a few unique ideas as well. Look for appropriate songs in your own collection as many contemporary artists have some great music for a modern wedding ceremony.

Prelude:

Music usually starts playing about 20 minutes prior to the scheduled ceremony time. We program about 30 minutes of music to allow for a fashionably late arrival, but it is still best to be on time.

Classical New Age Modern
Air On The G String Carribean Blue (Enya) Come Away With Me (Norah Jones
Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring Hillside Blue (Ancient Future) Better Together (Jack Johnson)
Air (Water Music) Moon Run (Trapezoid) Forrest Gump Suite

Processionals:

If it is a simple wedding party, the men will probably already be in place. You can use the same piece of music for 1 or 2 bridesmaids and the bridal procession. For a larger wedding party or to add a different atmosphere to the bridal processional, try using 2 different pieces of music. For a larger wedding, you can have separate music for the mothers, the groom and groomsmen, bridal attendants and the bridal processional.

Classical New Age Modern
Canon In D (Bocherini Quartet) Fairytale (Enya) From This Moment (Piano Inst)
Bridal Chorus (Michael Soloway) No Holly For Miss Quinn (Enya) And Then I Kissed Him (Pearl Harbor)

During The Ceremony:

Musical selections during the ceremony include pieces to be played during a candle or sand ceremony, during the signing or other music chosen to be played after a reading.

Classical New Age Modern
Ave Maria (Bocherini Quartet) Flora's Secret (Enya) True Companion (Marc Cohn)
Sheep May Safely Graze (Danny Wright) Love You Forever (Pavlo) Me And You (Kenny Chesney)

Recessional:

You can go with traditional pieces or have fun with something completely off the wall. A personal favorite for something modern is U2 - Beautiful Day starting right at the refrain of "It's a beautiful day". The Stevie Wonder example above puts everyone in a party mood.

Classical New Age Modern
Arrival Of The Queen Of Sheba Millenium Theme (Hans Zimmer) I Got You (James Brown)
Trumpet Voluntary (Clarke) Silver Inches (Enya) Signed, Sealed, Delivered (Stevie Wonder)

Post-Ceremony:

If a champagne toast is being planned, or a receiving line will take place immediately after the ceremony and in the same location, some background music might be appropriate. You can choose anything from classical to pop music to play during this time.
